Glaucoma (Glaucoma Treatment in Delhi NCR)
Glaucoma is one of the sight threatening condition of the eye known as “Silent thief of vision” owing to its painless nature.
Commonly known as “ KALA MOTIA “ in Hindi Language.
In this condition there is increase in Intraocular pressure, which further leads to damage of the optic nerve.
Risk Factors -:
Age above 40 years
Family history of Glaucoma
Myopic patients
Signs and Symptoms-:
Majority of the patients don’t show any symptoms in early stages, so for people with family history of glaucoma it is important to get regular eye checkups.
Other signs-: Frequent changes in glass prescription
Loss of Peripheral Vision
Colored halos around light
Types of glaucoma -:
Open angle -: in this type of glaucoma there is no sign or symptoms in early stage, if not diagnosed timely this can lead to damage of the optic nerve along with significant loss in peripheral vision.
Angle closure Glaucoma -: It is an acute condition in which there is a Rapid rise in intraocular pressure due to narrowing or closure of the filtering angle of the eye. This may be associated with headache, Redness and pain in the eyes or may be vomiting in few cases. This condition is an emergency situation and needs immediate treatment.
Congenital glaucoma -: It is a rare type of glaucoma that is present by birth.
Traumatic glaucoma – it occurs as a result of trauma causing damage to the angle structures of the eye.
